TTURC Cores

There are three core units providing administrative, research, and analytic support to the University of Minnesota TTURC.

Administrative Core
The purpose of the Administrative Core is to ensure the smooth operation of the TTURC, disseminate information to scientists and the community, and to provide transdisciplinary training and career development opportunities.

Biomarkers Core
The aim of the Biomarkers Core is to develop and determine valid and reliable biomarkers for tobacco toxin exposure, to identify those who are at greater risk for toxic tobacco exposure and those who are more responsive to treatment through phenotyping and genotyping of smokers.

Design and Analysis Core
The objective of the Design and Analysis Core includes a biostatistics component and an economic analyses component. The goals of the biostatistics component are (1) to provide consultation and service in the areas of experimental design, data programming, data monitoring and data analyses, (2) to provide and test standardized methods for assessment measures and (3) to develop new statistical models, and to participate in the dissemination of study results. The purpose of the economic analyses component are (1) to determine the economic impact of the proposed treatment approaches and (2) to examine the effects of these approaches on health care policies.
