The training program consists of the following core activities:
- Research in the laboratory of a TTURC investigator and on a funded TTURC project.
- Participation in all TTURC Research Seminars, including breakfast for trainees with invited speakers Participation in yearly TTURC retreats aimed at reviewing TTURC progress and future directions.
- Participation in bimonthly TTURC investigators meetings where research projects are presented
- Participation in all national TTURC conferences such as the Biomarkers conferences held previously, and yearly continuing education conferences.
- Travel to one TTURC Partners meeting
- Travel to Society for Research in Nicotine and Tobacco meeting (funded by mentor).
- Participation in a new "Transdisciplinary Tobacco Research" course. The purpose of this course is to introduce trainees to transdisciplinary science and its application to nicotine and tobacco research. The curriculum focuses on transdisciplinary theories, methods, and specific examples of their application and integration. It draws on TTURC investigators as well as other local investigators and public health advocates and will be offered every other year.
Faculty trainees also sit on the TTURC Steering Committee.
